Forget the Easter Bunny — these two Arizona moms are going to be celebrating the April 16 holiday by “egging” houses for a good cause.
And by egging houses, I don’t mean they’ll be throwing actual eggs all over the neighborhood like a couple of annoying teenagers. Instead, Summer Roger and Janelle Cavanagh will be setting up egg hunts on Easter eve to raise money for their babies’ upcoming heart surgeries. The moms met at Phoenix Children’s Hospital earlier this year, when their newborns were recovering from a first round of heart surgeries. Now, the children are facing second operations to repair their congenital heart defects.
The moms plan to use the money for their babies’ surgeries and travel costs to and from the hospital, and the community has responded in a big way! So far, they’ve taken orders to deliver over 6,000 eggs to 100 houses.
What a creative way to raise money! As a parent, I wish I could hire someone in my area to set up an Easter egg hunt. Be sure to share these awesome moms with your friends and family, and to their beautiful babies, we wish you both a successful surgery and speedy recovery!
